Green Peas Jowar Pancakes
Jowar Roti or Rotla or Bhakri is commonly made in many Indian households. Jowar also known as Sorghum is gluten free and and its a good alternative to wheat flour. Here is quick healthy breakfast option with the goodness of Jowar and green peas. This dish can be specially made in winters when we get very good quality green peas. Another key ingredient added in this recipe is green garlic which we get in winters. Don't worry you can also substitute it with normal garlic.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup jowar flour
- 2 tablespoon each of Rava/semolina and besan flour
- 1 cup dahi/curd
- Salt as per taste
- as required water to adjust the consistency
- 1 cup boiled green peas
- 1 teaspoon ginger green chilli paste
- as required Small piece of cinnamon stick
- 1/2 cup each of chopped methi/fenugreek and coriander leaves
- 2-3 cloves Green garlic (optional) or garlic
- 1/2 teaspoon each of Kashmiri red chilli powder, coriander jeera powder, pinch of haldi
- 2-3 teaspoon oil
Method:
Step 1
In a bowl. Take 1 cup jowar flour, 2 tablespoon each of Rava and besan flour, 1 cup of dahi/curd, add salt and 1/2 cup water and keep batter for fermenting for 30 mins
Step 2
Boil 1 cup of green peas, drain water and crush it with 1 teaspoon of ginger green chilli paste, 1 cinnamon stick and crush it. Don't make a fine paste....enjoy the crunch of green peas
Step 3
Now add the green peas mixture to the batter...add half cup each of chopped meethi, coriander leaves and green garlic (option), 1/2 teaspoon each of Kashmiri red chilli powder, coriander jeera powder, pinch of haldi and 1/2 to 1 cup of water to adjust the consistency
Step 4
Heat the tawa...add some oil and spread the batter on the tawa and let it cook on slow flame like we make besan chila
Serve it hot with chutney and ketchup
