Rava Idli – Easy and quick



A very easy breakfast option that she advised amid my busy lifestyle “Rava Idli” The best part is you can make the premix and store it even make upma out if by adding veggies of your choice.

Ingredients

  • 2 cup rava/suji
  • 2 tablespoons of ghee/oil
  • ½ teaspoon each of mustard seeds, chana dal, urad dal
  • Pinch of hing
  • 7-8 curry leaves
  • 1 teaspoon of green chillies
  • 1 teaspoon of cashews
  • ½ teaspoon of haldi powder
  • ½ cup curd
  • Water to adjust the consistency
  • 1 Eno small packet or you can also use 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda

 Method

  • Head ghee/oil in a pan…add mustard seeds, once crackle, add Chana dal and urad dal. Cook at slow flame
  • Let it cook for few mins. Add hing, green chili, chopped curry leaves, cashews. Mix well.
  • Stir continuously till the dal changes its colour…add rava and mix well
  • Add haldi powder, salt and let it mixture cook for few mins on a low flame
  • Close the flame and transfer the mixture in a bowl
  • Cool down the mixture completely…then add dahi­ and water to adjust the consistency…it should have idli batter consistency
  • Cover and keep aside for 15 min.
  • Steam the water and grease the idli stand plates with oil
  • Add Eno to the batter and little water, mix and pour the batter in the idli stand and cook on a high flame for 15 mins or so
  • Serve hot with chutney

This mixture can also be store in the air tight container in the fridge. You can also add the water and make the upma from the same mixture by adding veggies of your choice.
