Instant Rava Dosa in just 15 mins with Onion Sabzi and Spicy green Chutney
In this long weekend enjoy a quick Rava Dosa which requires no long fermentation and long process to make the batter. Easy to make batter which can be served with onion sabzi and spicy dhania chutney.
Ingredients:
For the Rava Dosa:
- 1 cup Rava
- 2 tablespoon of besan
- 2 tablespoon of wheat flour or rice flour
- 1 cup sour dahi
- Salt to taste
- 1/4th teaspoon of baking soda or Eno
- 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice
- 1 cup water
For the Onion Sabzi
- 3 medium size onion slices
- 1 teaspoon of ginger green chilli paste
- 1.5 tablespoons of oil
- Few mustard seeds
- Pinch of hing
- 2 pinch of haldi powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of Kashmiri chili powder
- 1 teaspoon of dhania jeera powder
- Salt to taste
For the spicy green chutney
- 1 small bunch of dhania leaves
- 2 green chilli
- small piece of ginger
- 1 teaspoon of roasted jeera
- 2 tablespoon of groundnut powder or 2 tablespoon of roasted Chana powder
- 1/2 cup of grated coconut
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon of sugar
- 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
Method:
Dosa Making:
- Make a fine powder of Rava in a mixture. Pour the powder in the bowl add besan, wheat flour or rice flour, salt, dahi and water.
- Let the batter ferment for 15 mins. Now mix well add water to adjust the consistency like a dosa batter add baking soda and lemon juice on top of soda to activate the soda.
- Mix well, heat the tava, rub it with wet cloth, pour the batter and make the dosa
- Note the besan gives nice colour crispiness to the dosa while wheat or rice flour helps to give the binding to dosa.
Sabzi making:
- Chop the onion into slices
- Heat the oil add mustard seeds, add hing, ginger green chilli paste, haldi powder
- Add onion and salt
- Let the onion cook on a low flame. Cover the lid
- Add mirchi powder and dhania jeera powder
- Mix well and serve with the dosa
- You can add curry leaves, cashews to the sabzi in the tadka if you want
Chutney making:
- In a mixture first add groundnut or roasted Chana. Powder it
- Add sugar, jeera and grind it again
- Now add ginger, green chilli, salt, dhania, water, lemon juice and grind to make the chutney
- You can also add mint leaves, besan sev in place of groundnut and Chana
- Adding of sugar enhances taste of all the other ingredients. You can skip it I always prefer it
- Adding of lemon juice gives nice green colour. You can add raw mango slices or tamarind pulp
