Sabudana Vada dipped in Dahi Jeera Tadka Kadhi 

Sabudana Vada is the most popular dish during fasting times. While the vada can be accompanied by the dahi wali dip or chutney. Try and enjoy Sabudana Vada with the Vrat wali Dahi Jeera Tadka Kadhi.  The jugalbandi of the two can give you same feeling as eating Dahi Vada. 


Making of the Sabudana Vada 

Ingredients: 

  • 1 cup soaked Sabudana
  • 4 boiled Aloo mashed (Boil one extra Aloo for the Dahi ki Kadhi) 
  • 1/2 teaspoon roasted jeera powder
  • 1 teaspoon ginger and green chili paste
  • 2 tablespoon groundnut powder
  • Salt to taste (Use fasting wala salt -Sendha namak if possible)
  • Oil for frying 

Method: 

  • Soak 1 cup Sabudana for 2 hours to get nice soft texture. Wash the Sabudana first and then only put to the level that Sabudana gets soaked. Avoid adding too much water
  • Take 4 boiled Aloo and mash them
  • In a big bowl add mash Aloo, Sabudana, 1/2 teaspoon roasted jeera powder, 1 teaspoon ginger and green chili paste, 2 tablespoons of groundnut powder and Salt as per taste 
  • Mix all well and make round shape Vada
  • Heat the oil and now fry the Vada on high to medium flame 
  • Enjoy the vada with the Vrat wali Dahi Jeera Tadka Kadhi 

Making of Vrat wali Dahi Jeera Tadka Kadhi 

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of dahi preferably bit sour 
  • Salt to taste 
  • 1.5 teaspoon of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of Rajgira or any fasting flour 
  • 1 small boiled Aloo 
  • 1/2 teaspoon of green chilli paste 
  • 1/2 teaspoon of grated ginger 
  • 1.5 teaspoon of ghee
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ghee 
  • 1.5 tablespoon of fine groundnut powder 

Method

  • In a bowl add one cup of dahi, salt, sugar and Rajgira or any fasting flour. Add slight water to adjust the consistency like a kadhi 
  • Blend this together with a hand blender or a whisk it 
  • Peel the skin of the boiled Aloo, crush it into small pieces and add ginger chilli paste and mix well 
  • Now heat 1.5 of ghee, add jeera. Let it turn slightly brown. 
  • Close the gas and then add the Dahi mixture and add boiled aloo mixture 
  • Cook the Dahi mixture on a low flame. Keep mixing in between 
  • Lastly add groundnut powder and serve hot 
Serve the hot Sabudana Vada and pour Dahi Jeera Kadhi on top. Garnish it with mint leaves and serve hot
