Coconut Kesar Barfi and Ladoo with flavours of Rose petals and Nutmeg

This is very easy sweet to make without the the need to make chasni or roast for long time. I have used desiccated coconut and not the fresh coconut. If you want to use fresh coconut the process is typically longer and also will need some binding agent. Instead use dry coconut powder and try this dish. The uniqueness of the simple sweet is it has flavours of nutmeg and rose petals which makes it more tasty.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup desiccated coconut
  • 5 to 6 teaspoon of sugar
  • 4 to 5 kesar strands
  • 1 teaspoon of dry rose petals
  • 3 pinch of nutmeg powder or you can grate the nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon of ghee
  • 2 green elaichi seeds
  • 1 tablespoon of cashew or almond powder and some for garnish to add richness to the dish

Method:

  • In a thick bottom pan add 1/2 cup milk, boil it and then add elachi, kesar. Mix well
  • Now add dry fruit powder and keep stirring it. Now add sugar, nutmeg powder and mix well till sugar melts
  • Lastly add coconut powder and cook till the mixture leave the sides of the pan
  • Add ghee to the coconut mixture and use some to grease the plate
  • Pour the coconut mixture on a plate, tap it nicely, garnish it with rose petals and some dry fruit powder
