Powder Makhana Kheer topped with colour makhana

Happy Basant Panchami and Happy Republic day to everyone. Festive season calls for some sweet dish and what better than kheer on this special day.  



Ingredients

 2 people
  1. 1 tablespoon ghee
  2. 6-7 each of cashew, almond, pista and few Chironji /Charoli
  3. 1 cup makhana
  4. 1/2 litre milk
  5. 1/2 teaspoon elaichi powder
  6. 3 kesar strands
  7. 1/2 cup sugar
  8. 3 makhana dip in orange and green colour for garnish

  1. Method: 
  2. Step 1

    In a pan add 1 tablespoon of ghee, add 6-7 each of cashew, almond and pista. Remove it once it gets roasted

  3. Step 2

    In the same pan with remaining ghee add 1 cup of makhana and roast it for a few mins. Cool it down completely

  4. Step 3

    In another pan add ½ litre of milk and boil it for 10-15 mins, now add ½ teaspoon of elaichi powder, 3 kesar strands and ½ cup of sugar. Let the sugar melt, boil it for another 3-4 mins and keep stirring in between.

  5. Step 4

    Crush the roasted makhana, dry fruits, you can do that in mixer too but grind it coarsely. Pour this mixture in the milk…. give it one boil.

  6. Step 5

    Since it's independence day, take out 3 makhana, dip in orange and green color and garnish the kheer. Serve hot or cold your choice this weather you are surely going to like it hot
